Fifteen Indiana Labor Unions Endorse Watson for U.S. House Race

Endorsements from unions continue to come in for Liz Watson, Democratic candidate for the House seat in Indiana’s 9th District.

Watson said “I am honored to receive these endorsements from hardworking men and women in Indiana’s unions. We know that when Indiana unions are strong, Indiana families are strong. I am thrilled that our state added 21,000 new union members between 2015 and 2016, the latest year for which data is available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. As the 304,000 Hoosiers represented by unions in Indiana know, in areas with strong union density, working people — whether they are in unions or not — all benefit from higher wages and fairer working conditions. Workers with a union contact earn 13 percent more than their non-union counterparts, according to the Economic Policy Institute. And workers’ typical pay grows four times faster in states with the smallest declines in unionization rates than in states with the largest declines. If I’m elected to Congress, no one will work harder than me to stop the legislative attacks on the freedom of working people to come together to negotiate for their fair share.”

Watson is a labor and employment attorney with extensive experience fighting to un-rig the rules of the economy so that hardworking Americans get a fair return on their work. Find out more about her at www.LizForIndiana.com and see the current list of labor endorsements below:
